Two Rivers Gear List – Five Hours

Mandatory Individual Gear

  • Whistle (one per person)
  • Space Blanket (one per person)
  • Rain coat (taped, with hood; waterproof, not water-resistant)
  • Fleece or wool shirt
  • Suitable clothing for the conditions
  • Warm fleece, wool, or synthetic hat
  • Warm fleece, wool, or synthetic gloves
  • Hydration System or means to carry water (If you are in need of a new hydration system, we recommend SOURCE hydration systems.)
  • Appropriate Pack
  • Enough food for the duration of the event
  • A bright orange article of clothing or piece of cloth, visible on the outside of your pack/body

Mandatory Team Gear

  • Race rules, maps, passports (provided by the race organization)
  • Fully charged cell phone (one per team)
  • Compass (one per team – if you are in need of a new compass, we recommend Kanpas products)
  • First aid kit – The list below is the mandatory, minimum requirement, but we encourage you to round out your kit with additional items as you deem necessary and wise. We recommend you consult this medical kit’s supply list for guidance on additional supplies.
    • Antihistamine/benadryl
    • Ibuprofen
    • Assorted bandaids
    • 4 gauze pads, minimum 3×3
    • Disinfecting wipes
    • Epipen if a teammate knows he/she needs one

Mandatory Individual Bike Gear (for teams in the foot/bike division — must be carried on all bike legs)

  • Mountain bike (riding will be largely technical and semi-technical trail, with some connecting roads)
  • Helmet

Mandatory Team Bike Gear

  • Repair Kit
  • One tube per two bikes (we recommend one per bike)

Recommended Individual Gear

  • Extra clothes and rain protection (including rain pants)
  • Map Case or other means to keep your maps dry and accessible.
  • Foot lubricant/cream (we recommend Hikegoo and other products from Foot Kinetics)
  • A watch
  • Dry bag(s) – enough dry bag or other waterproofing for all gear and food

Prohibited Gear

  • Weapons
  • GPS devices – If you want to use a device for the sake of tracking your route for later download, you may be permitted to use it but must discuss this with the organization ahead of the race
  • Night vision googles or other similar devices
  • Communication devices – a cell phone is required for emergencies only; no other such devices should be carried unless approved by the organization
  • Any form of transportation not specifically allowed by the organization
